PSA: Women’s History Isn’t Just for Women
This should go without saying, but I’m gonna say (shout) it anyway: WOMEN’S HISTORY ISN’T JUST FOR WOMEN.
n this episode I interview Ashley Aikele and Elyse Beard, the founders of Bravery Magazine. Bravery Magazine is my favorite tool for teaching women’s history, each issue introduces real role models and aims to empower kids to “be their own kind of brave.” We dig into the origin story of Bravery Magazine, the importance of intersectionality, and the myth that feminism hurts men and boys. One of the most powerful moments of the interview is when Ashley and Elyse open up about what they’d tell their younger selves about womanhood. This episode will give you everything you need to confidently respond when someone says that women’s history is just for women.
Ally Elementary
Ally Elementary and Ally Elementary Jr give parents and teachers a practical, interactive way to implement the anti-racist strategies that we discuss on the First Name Basis Podcast.
These programs allow parents and teachers to work together with their children to create a culture of anti-racism in their home or classroom. We use hands-on activities to teach our children about everything from the untold story of how race was created to how they can disrupt racism in their everyday lives. I am so excited to join you as you make a meaningful transformation and improve your communities through anti-racist action.
